With all due respect Tuanku, BorakBola must be brave here and say it clearly, that Your Highness' recent comments and blaming coach Norizan Bakar for the lost against China borders on self-denial and ignorance.

After the terrible loss to China, BorakBola for one believe that support for the team should remain, which is why this blog will continue to offer news, outlooks and opinions on the state of Malaysian national football and will also continue to watch the games at the stadium.

BorakBola's stand is simple: we love football, we love the national team and we want to see football in Malaysia improve. We are not part of the national body in charge to ensure the development and well-being of football in this country. As such what we can do and what we will do is limited to state what is the obvious, create awareness and offer reminders on how the situation is. More importantly, this is how the Malaysians fan feel. Unless BorakBola is offered a job at FAM, there is NOTHING that we can do FROM THE INSIDE, if the status quo remains and FAM does not want to change.

The first question that BorakBola would like to ask Your Highness is, "Who selected Norizan Bakar as the coach of Malaysia?"

It certainly wasn't the fans' idea.

The second question we would like to ask is, "Can Your Highness be so kind as to share with us a) Your actual role and responsibilities in FAM and b) How do people in FAM communicate or report to you"

For readers who are unaware where we are going with this - especially some at FAM who at times might have problem putting two and two together, it was FAM who chose coach Norizan Bakar for the post. BorakBola is unsure how FAM define the role and responsibilities of the head coach of a national football team but one of it we think should be is the ability to be trusted to select the players, to employ and use whaveter tactic is needed to bear the opposition - in short, you'd select the head coach because you know that person should be able to do the job.

Which probably makes us wonder, what was the selection criteria in the first place? Did FAM interview the candidates and ask them to present their plan for the team - their proposed training methods, players that they have in mind, team tactics and formation etc?

In anyway, this brings us directly to the point, that by criticising the head coach that YOUR organisation selected, you are, in truth, be condemning yourself. And as much as BorakBola is an avenue for constructive criticism, we do not agree with the habit of hanging our dirty laundry in public. Already the state of football in country at such a low level, you do not want your national FA to be mocked by the world. Would you imagine someone high in the English FA blasting the tactics employed by Steve McClaren? Sort out whatever internal matters internally, and not by telling the world that you are the nice guy and that you had nothing to do with it. If you are really not doing anything, at least try to help and provide solutions. Talk is cheap, which is why Tengku Mahkota should've left the talking to us.

This is one of the many problems affecting the FAM. Denials at all level. Blame others before taking responsibilities. Keep this up and we will fall so low down the ranking that the only way we won't be the last-ranked team is if FIFA accepts new countries into the body thereby propping us up.

And no thank you Tuanku, BorakBola won't shake your hand because saying sorry without really apologising is not apologising at all. Go on and shake the next fan in line.

TM blames coach Norizan, says sorry to fans

KUALA LUMPUR: A senior Malaysian football official has lashed out at the national team’s “shameful” 5-1 drubbing by China and warned of more trouble ahead for the Asian Cup co-hosts.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said he wanted to apologise to each fan in person, blaming coach Norizan Bakar for Tuesday’s result.

“What a shameful display,” said the visibly upset Tengku Abdullah, according to the official Bernama news agency.

“I apologise to all the spectators and want to shake their hands. I am truly disappointed with their inept display.”

Tengku Abdullah could conceivably have carried out his promise with a tiny crowd watching the rout.

Malaysia were the first of the four hosts to lose after encouraging displays by Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.

He rounded on coach Norizan, who was criticised for benching key centre-half K. Nanthakumar and leading striker Indra Putra Mahayuddin.

“The coach has the power to choose the players and he should know better.

“Only the coach and players will be able to say what happened that night. I was also a spectator,” said Tengku Abdullah.

“I hope there will not be a repeat of what happened that night but I am still wary of conceding more goals,” he added.
