Asian Cup: Drastic changes in Malaysian line-up

By ERIC SAMUEL

PETALING JAYA: There will be drastic changes in the national football team's starting line-up for the Uzbekistan match at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

After the heavy loss to China (1-5) in the opening match of the Asian Cup campaign on Tuesday, coach Norizan Bakar said it was back to the drawing board to repair the damage ahead of the two remaining matches in Group C.

"There is bound to be changes in the starting line-up but we have learnt it the hard way in our opening game itself," said a disappointed Norizan after the Malaysians had no answer to the Chinese onslaught and paid dearly for their poor tactical discipline in defence.

"It is obvious we were unable to cut off the crosses and when the whole defence cracks against a strong attacking side like China ..... .... we are in big trouble," said Norizan.

There was nothing much Malaysia could do against the tactically sound Chinese players, who made good use of their physical advantage to cruise to this big win.

Norizan admitted that this was not the ideal way to start the Asian Cup campaign but felt that the team should pick up the pieces for the Uzbekistan game on Saturday and Iran on July 18.

Tengku Mahkota as usual blames semua orang, even the ball boy & kitman, except himself!!

The decline of Malaysian football started after post 1980 and that's about the time his father took over the reign of FAM (kalau tak silap aku) and then he himself (Tengku Mahkota) comes into the picture...

I say Rizal Hashim might be correct to say that our football is cursed for 7 generations.. I then say, we should quickly remove the 1st two generations then!! apa susah sangat... the media & the people who really cares about football should lead the campaign to remove Tengku Mahkota...

we need a fresh start very very badly...

at this rate, we shud be looking at emulating (susah nak cakap ni) our southern neighbour, Singapore. they've got their strategies right and their act together...

ok, aku nak minum kopi pagi ..
